The plaque can be seen just under the large sign and was erected privately on this Grade II listed building. The public house dating back to 1843 is the earliest known building to be rendered in Portland Cement. The cement was patented by Joseph Aspdin in 1824. The building was closed as a public house c2000 and with the hopes of turning into a restaurant but vandalism in recent years has lead to serious renovations being needed. Since the damage the plaque has disappeared.
